Hugo Hill, Managing Director
Hugo has 10 years experience in the insurance industry and began his career with Willis in London within the Aviation division handling Middle East and Africa clients. Hugo specialized in West African Airline and General Aviation business with a focus in Nigeria.
In 2014, Hugo transferred from London to South Africa as a specialist Client Advocate for Africa. In a broader role, Hugo helped build Willis’ presence in Sub-Saharan Africa with particular focus on special risk business. Namely, Oil & Gas, Power, Heavy Industry, Aviation and Construction.
In January 2017, Hugo left Willis Towers Watson and founded TRM, a Pan-African Insurance & Reinsurance, risk advisory and broking services company.
TRM’s client base includes oil and gas exploration companies, state power generation utilities and multi-national conglomerates.
Hugo serves as Managing Director of TRM.
James Hill, Chief Operating Officer
James has more than 15 years experience working in the (re)insurance industry.
During his career, James has held senior management positions within International Broking and Underwriting capacities based in the UK, Asia and South Africa.
James started his insurance career in 2005 with Willis Limited in London broking upstream Oil & Gas business from the Middle East North Africa region.
In 2011, James expatriated to Singapore with Willis where he was overseeing all Terrorism, Kidnap & Ransom, Product recall and Accident & Health placements in APAC. During this time James travelled extensively throughout South East Asia and North Asia handling a portfolio of large and complex clients.
James left Willis in 2015 and joined Bermudian Reinsurance company Ironshore International as Regional Underwriting Manager for Asia Pacific. James was responsible for driving profitable growth of the Marine portfolio and led a team of Underwriters across the region.
With the sale of Ironshore to Liberty Mutual in 2017 James joined TRM in November 2018 and currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer responsible for overseeing all operating, legal and regulatory aspects of the TRM business.
TRM operate in over 10 countries and specialise in handling large and complex special risk insurances. James’ international background coupled with his cross class expertise provides TRM clients with access to world class expertise.
